Due to the state of emergency in Georgia, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and its affiliated company SOCAR Energy Georgia postponed the opening ceremony of Kulevi terminal, originally scheduled for November 10.
It is now expected to take place from November 20–30, according to the news agency Regnum.
SOCAR purchased Kulevi terminal from prominent Georgian business tycoon Badri Patarkatsishvili, who recently announced he will run for president in the January election.
The terminal, situated on Georgia’s Black Sea coast, has a current capacity of ten million tons per year, although the Caucaz media outlet reports that SOCAR intends to increase this capacity to 20 million tons per year.
SOCAR also apparently plans to construct an oil-processing complex in Kulevi, the newspaper 24 Saati reports.
