Mart Laar, a former prime minister of Estonia and a key economic adviser to President Mikheil Saakashvili after the Rose Revolution, has warned that continued street protests may damage Georgia’s economic sector.
Speaking on a recent trip to Tbilisi, Laar said that foreign investors were wary of investing in Georgia after the turmoil of November 7, but underlined that the current administration was committed to democracy.
“Both the opposition and the government made mistakes [on November 7]. However, at the moment, the important thing is that the administration wants to return to democracy,” the newspaper Alia quoted Laar as saying.
He also said that Georgia’s EU and NATO ambitions have been affected by the events of November 7.
