Amendments considered for 2008 state budget

The first amendments to the 2008 state budget are being considered by parliamentary committees, with expected revenues increasing GEL 184 million and expenditure rising GEL 200 million.
Additional revenue is thanks partly to privatization which has brought in an additional GEL 44 million, according to deputy Finance Minister Papuna Petriashvili, Civil.ge reports.
Petriashvili also said that additional expenditure will cover a hike in monthly pensions from GEL 55 to GEL 70 which he indicated would go into effect from April 1. Georgian media previously reported that the pension rise would begin from March 1.
The Agriculture Ministry will also see its expenditure increase GEL 29.2 million which will go to agricultural machinery, and the Energy Ministry will receive an extra GEL 51.2 million.
