Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR has begun constructing an underwater gas pipeline at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field, company representatives said on April 3.
The 2.4-kilometer pipeline will connect two Gunashli rigs, and will eventually be connected to the main pipeline that transports gas to the shore, according to Azerbaijani news agency Trend.
Georgia is hoping to increase its import of Azerbaijani gas to minimize its reliance on Russian energy supplies.
