Mine defusing work continues in Karaleti

The process of defusing mines continues in the village of Karaleti. Foreign specialists are undertaking this work, but Russian occupiers hinder them, 24 saati reports.

According to information from locals the illegal Russian checkpoint at the entrance to Karaleti is working to a “regular regime.” Russian occupiers check everyone who cross their illegal checkpoint, not only local residents but also foreigners taking humanitarian aid to the region.

“We know that you express moral support but we don’t have enough food here,” Karaleti residents say. The majority of houses in the village have been fire damaged, and it is mostly the elderly who are currently left in the village.

At the same time, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister stated, talks on a new EU-Russia partnership agreement should not be resumed at this stage. “We cannot think about future relations until we understand what kind of relations we have now,” the Minister said.
