Experts are optimistic that due to the support Georgia has received from different countries and international organizations the country will soon undo the damage done by the Russian aggression and will continue developing.
Georgia will have problems in the near future but they should not be catastrophic, says economist Demur Giorkhelidze. However, the major precondition for recovery and continued development is peace and stability. There must be no resumption of armed confrontation and the withdrawal of the occupation forces must be effected. Internal political stability also needs to be achieved and subsequently maintained.
All of this places a big responsibility on the shoulders of the ruling administration. Much will depend on how efficiently it utilizes the financial support it receives from friendly countries, how transparently this money is spent and how well businessmen are supported, as they are the backbone of the economic welfare of the country.
