Tbilsresi to be sold in summer
Wednesday, November 5
The Tbilsresi power plant has been supplying Tbilisi and its neighbourhood with electricity for over 50 years. Now however “the veteran” has filed for bankruptcy and the Government has put it up for sale.
This strategically important facility will be sold in summer 2009, when the all formalities of its bankruptcy declaration, have been completed. The plant has forty-four creditors, and together with its liabilities the estimated price of the plant will be GEL 350 million. This price will presumably be asked at an auction.
Today, out of the eight original energy blocks of the plant, only six remain. Of those six, only two (No3 and No4) are functioning. In winter they produce 280 megawatts of electro energy, and will be activated in November.
