GDP growth slowing down
Tuesday, November 11
After the August war the growth of the Georgian economy experienced a serious setback. The prognosis is that by 2009 GDP growth will be only 4-5 percent.
Since 2004 GDP growth in Georgia has been more than 8%, but this actually still gives it quite a moderate GDP compared to those of the EU countries with which Georgia seeks to integrate with. It would have taken Georgia 35 years to reach EU standards even had its growth continued at this level.
