Political analyst Archil Gegeshidze is sure that one of the major ways of implementing the US-Georgia charter will be to introduce into Georgia a Western-approved system of making decisions.
Gegeshidze thinks that so far the decision making mechanisms of the country have not been correct or effective. Decisions have been made by only a small group of people, leading to errors, in particular during the August war.
Western-type decision making means actively including the people and media to facilitate efficient governance. The new charter directly mentions the importance of political pluralism, meaning that not only political parties but analytical centres and NGOs should be funded and encouraged. They should more actively participate in the everyday life of the country and in particular the process of decision making.
