James Sherr, Director of Russian and Eurasian Programmes of Chatham House, the Royal Institute for International Affairs of Great Britain, has expressed his skepticism about the possibility of the successful implementation of the NABUCCO project.
The expert thinks that the gas resources for the pipeline should come from either Iran or Central Asia. He says that investors will not be interested if NABUCCO gas is produced only in Azerbaijan.
Sherr thinks that relations with Iran are negotiable, but as for the Central Asian countries they are concerned with their own internal security. They have plenty of demands to deal with from Russia, China, India and Japan.
