Direct Foreign Investments in Georgia were worth USD 1.293 billion in 2008. This is 35.8% less than in 2007. The biggest investors in Georgia are the UAE (USD 237.143 million), Turkey (USD 165.026 million) and The Netherlands (USD 145.720 million).
Transport and communications have attracted the most investments, USD 364.285 million’s worth. Then come energy (USD 253.349 million) and real estate (USD 202. 259 million).
In 2009 the Georgian Government plans to attract USD 1.7 billion in FDI. Whether this will happen is hard to predict now, but if does this will be a real success for the country.
