A Karabakh conflict solution could emerge if Iran conducts an active foreign policy, Iranian Presidential candidate Mohsen Rezai stated on June 6 in Tabriz.
Rezai stressed that by being more active in the region Iran could prevent possible conflicts and mediate confrontations. The current capacity and influence of Iran give the country the possibility of contributing to the resolution of the conflict over Karabakh. Rezai promised that if elected as President he would promote a policy of peace and friendship. This would strengthen Iran’s position in the region, and neighbouring countries would thus consider Iran rather than Washington as the main conflict intermediary in the area.
