Customs amendment to be implemented

Georgian government has decided physical entities will be liable for customs duties if they transport items for personal use across the border more than once in every 30 days. As Revenues Department Deputy Chief Irakli Siradze stated, in these circumstances goods entering the country will be considered as being designed for commercial activities and will be taxed at 13% of the total cost of the goods.

Independent economic analyst Soso Archuadze says this amendment to the regulations will create extra obstacles for small traders and result in price increases at the market.
