How much for Saakashvili’s residence?

Political Secretary of the Labour Party Giorgi Gugava claims the construction of the President’s Avlabari residence has cost up to USD 1 billion. He says the expenditure account is strictly confidential and is unacceptable for the general public. Gugava suggests that in addition to the official costs, which have been very considerably reduced by artificial means, extra budgetary resources have been spent on the residence under disguised headings.

Money expropriated from businessmen was also used to build the new residence, stated Gugava. He describes the residence as full of exotic and luxurious architectural designs and thinks it includes escape tunnels which can be used in case of an emergency.
