From January-July 2009 Georgia’s trade turnover decreased by more than 37 percent. Total foreign trade turnover was under USD 3 billion. Of this only USD 617 million was export earnings, therefore Georgia has a negative trade balance of around USD 1.761 billion.
Georgia’s foreign trade has been steadily decreasing for months. Trade with EU countries is around 36 percent less than it was last year, and with CIS countries 42 percent. The negative tendency is clear and the figures are not encouraging.
