Opening of Turkish border will increase Armenia’s GDP

Armenian state officials welcome the prospect of the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border which they say has been caused by economic factors and will increase the growth of the country’s economy. Armenian analysts estimate that opening the border will increase the country’s GDP by 4% export by 17 % and import by 13%.
Vardan Aivazian, an MP from the ruling Republican Party, has made a statement about the economic benefits the country will receive after the opening of the Turkish border. He said Armenia is already taking measures to make the new border arrangements as effective as possible and is presently conducting negotiations with Poland to buy locomotives and railway carriages for the Turkish-Armenian railways.
