Businessmen on the labour code

Some businessmen in Georgia think that the new draft labour legislation is too socialistic in character and does not take into account businessmen’s interests. They think that adopting such a labour code will negatively affect the flow of investments into the country. President of the Georgian Business Association Giga Chirakadze thinks that the code would be unacceptable in a country targeting rapid economic development.
President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia David Lee has also negatively assessed the new draft labour code.
Let us hope that the Georgian Government, Parliament, trade unions and other interested bodies will consider thoroughly the pros and cons of the draft and not take hasty and populist decisions.
