Money transfers from Russia into CIS countries have recently decreased by 20-60%. Of course this is mainly the result of the world economic crisis.
The Permanent Representative of the IMF in Kyrgyzstan, Koba Gvenetadze, thinks that this trend will start to reverse from 2010. He thinks that an increase in the price of energy resources from Central Asian countries will positively influence exporter countries.
By mid-2009 the decrease in transfers into CIS countries had bottomed out. This gives grounds for some optimism.
