After the 2008 Russian aggression friendly countries promised Georgia more than USD 2 billion in assistance. However some analysts think that in reality the country will not receive this amount.
By the end of 2008 Georgia had received more than GEL 617 million, by the end of this year it should receive a further GEL 450 million and in 2010 it is projected to receive GEL 462 million, meaning that over three years Georgia should receive just over GEL 1.5 billion. If you convert this into USD the total does not reach USD 1 billion, meaning that Georgia will get less than 50% of the grants it was promised.
But who knows, maybe things will improve when the donors read these lines?
