War victims’ families are being cheated
Akhali Taoba reports that the Christian Democratic Movement is accusing the Government of cheating war victims’ families. It opposes the Government’s new legislative initiative for compensating these families and has presented alternative proposals
Magda Anikashvili and Giorgi Tsagareishvili have stated at a press conference that restricting war pensions to those who are physically impaired is absolutely unacceptable and this restriction should be removed. “The new legislative proposal presented by the Government can be considered unjust and discriminatory. Under this initiative, state assistance will be given only to the physically disabled wives of war victims. These families need help, all of them. Their family members were killed while protecting their country and the Government should accordingly appreciate their selflessness. The same social protection guarantees should be given to all the families who lost members in the war,” Anikashvili stated.
The Christian Democrats have calculated the expense of their proposals and are demanding 4 million GEL from the State budget to implement them.
Have Ina Gudavadze and Aleksandre Ebralidze joined forces?
Versia reports that the scandal connected with Badri Patarkatsishvili’s property is gaining further political connotations. Patarkatsishvili’s wife, Ina Gudavadze is actively looking for partners in her attempt to regain this property.
It is said that since Giorgi Arveladze’s appointment as General Director of Imedi TV, new policies have been pursued there. The technical equipment the channel needs is slowly being removed, most going to other TV companies, and the staff who remained after the change of ownership have already left the channel. All this means that the Government is intending to bankrupt it.
Meanwhile, Gudavadze is trying to develop a political base. The World Congress of Georgian People is spreading information that Gudavadze is to lead the Georgian Diaspora in Spain, Italy and Greece. Aleksandre Ebralidze, leader of the World Congress of Georgian People, who is a businessman with Russian citizenship, intends to participate in the next Presidential elections in Georgia and he and Gudavadze are reported to be actively collaborating.
Gudavadze has already approached the Foreign Ministry of Russia demanding that, as she is also a citizen of Russia, the Russian Government should defend her rights in Georgia. It should be pointed out that Badri Patarkatsishvili never had a negative attitude to the Russian Government.
