Romania and Azerbaijan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the energy sphere on February 2 in Baku. Under the terms of this document Azerbaijan's SOCAR will export its oil and gas to EU countries, including Romania, and the two countries will collaborate on any project which will facilitate Caspian Basin oil and gas exports to EU countries.
Azerbaijan may also provide Romania with liquid gas. A decision on this will be taken when the capacity of the Constanca terminal in Romania has been assessed. This terminal will be constructed by Romanian gas company Romgaz Medias.
