More gas in Shah Deniz

After prophylactic works at the Shah-Deniz gas field in Azerbaijan more gas is being extracted. One more borehole is now producing gas, with four of the five now working. 84 million cubic metres of gas will be extracted from the field in 2010.
At present gas from the field is being exported to Georgia and Armenia, with only a portion remaining in Azerbaijan. The field contains 1.2 trillion cubic metres of gas.
The contract on exploiting this field came into force on 4 June 1996. The participants of this agreement are BP (with 25.5% of shares), Statoil (25.5%), NICO (10%), Total (10%), LukAgip (10%), TPAO (9%) and SOCAR (10%).
