Minister of Economic Development Zurab Pololikashvili has said that around USD 1 billion in Foreign Direct Investment is expected to enter the country in 2010. The investors will be from countries Government members consulted with in 2009 and those which have invested in Georgia for the last few years.
The Minister said that the 2009 investment situation was a negative one but positive steps are planned for 2010. Foreign Direct Investment in 2009 was about USD 800,000, and this is now projected to grow by 30%, whereas previously the Government expected nearly USD 2 million this year.
