Investments to increase from 2011

Last year FDI in Georgia decreased dramatically. However the authorities are quite optimistic about this year and independent analysts also suggest that this year's figures will be approximately the same as in 2009.
State officials expect serious investments in the Poti and Kutaisi industrial zones, and all of a sudden they have started talking about Egyptian investments. These were expected in 2008, but did not enter in the amounts promised.
Head of the national investment agency Irakli Matkava thinks that FDI will start increasing again in 2011 and will mostly come from Asia. In the fullness of time we will see which prognoses are correct.
