British Embassy runs for children

On March 21 thousands of people across the world took part in the Sport Relief Mile in one of the biggest mass participation events ever. The Sport Relief Mile is an initiative of British charity Comic Relief, which raises money to help vulnerable people in the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

British Embassy staff ran a mile in Vake Park in order to raise money for the Tbilisi Infant House. The funds will be donated to the Tbilisi Infant House via the Service Agency for Disabled, Elderly, and Orphans of the Georgian Health Ministry.

Sport Relief Mile events took place in the UK from Friday 19th March to Sunday 21st March 2010. For the first time British Foreign Office staff all over the world are taking part.

Over the last 25 years Comic Relief has raised over half a billion pounds for charities in the UK and around the world though its annual mass participation events. The next year Sport Relief will be held will be the year of the London Olympics and Paralympics, 2012.
