White collar crimes are not the most common offences in Georgia but they are very important from the State's point of view. The analytical service of the Prosecutor’s Office says that the most widespread white collar crimes are abuse of power, exceeding authority, professional negligence, taking and offering bribes, professional fraud, forcing people to give evidence and so on.
Altogether in 2009 there were 151 cases of abuse of power, slightly more than in 2008. There have been increases in taking and giving bribes as well.
