At the opening ceremony of the 17th annual oil and gas exhibition Azeri President Ilham Aliyev stated that new markets should be identified because Azerbaijan can now export more energy. In 2010 Azerbaijan will extract 52 million barrels of oil and 30 billion cubic metres of natural gas.
Aliyev said that Azerbaijan has became an investor and SOCAR, the Azeri state oil company, one of the leading companies in the world. But he added that the Azeri economy is diverse and does not depend only on oil nowadays.
SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev stated that after making a deal with Turkey on gas export and transit prices more energy transport options have become available.
