The situation in Karabakh is deteriorating and there are certain signs that small scale conflict could emerge in the region. Director of the Strategic Analytical Centre Turksam Sinan Organ cites the military rhetoric being used by both Armenia and Azerbaijan and says that a brief military confrontation would lead Armenia to seriously reconsider its position in the region.
Nothing other than military threat from Azerbaijan would force Armenia to make progress in Karabakh conflict resolution, the Turkish analyst says. He adds that this short term confrontation could take place at any moment before the end of this year.
