On July 21 Iran stopped supplying Turkey with natural gas due to an explosion in Agri province in Turkey. The Turkish authorities managed to improve the situation and compensate for the lack of gas supply by asking its commercial partners, Russia's Gazprom, and Azerbaijan to provide more. The Russian side has increased it supply to Turkey via Blue Stream from 14 million cubic metres a day to 22 while the Azeri side has increased its supply through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum pipeline.
