Due to this year's poor climatic conditions, Georgia's 2010 fruit harvest is less than usual and it can barely satisfy the demand for fruit on the local market. Analysts think that this year it will be very difficult to satisfy the demand for fruit, particularly apples. Last year saw a record harvest of fruit and farmers had problems selling it, so in general the price of fruit was very low. Much of the fruit harvest last year either was sold very cheaply or not sold at all and spoiled. Analysts think that the ministry of agriculture has done little to help the farmers - there is no help with marketing and no storage facilities are available. As of yet there is no real replacement for the Russian market and many more shortcomings have caused the current situation.
