Azeri state budget structure

Azerbaijan's budget revenues are mostly based on oil and gas products. This can cause problems for the country, for example in 2008-09 when the worldwide oil prices fell there was a deficit in the Azeri budget as a result. The Azeri government must therefore diversify its economy and start developing sectors other than those related to oil and gas. Thus there has been a recent development of trade, services and different branches of industry in the Azeri economy. Azerbaijan is trying to modify its economy and is also taking some steps to increase social welfare. It has increased the minimum basic pension and issuing them without delay as well as giving allowances to the population for the consumption of its own natural gas.
