Since Georgia lost the Russian market for its wines, the Georgian wine industry is experiencing serious problems. While it is true that the export market for Georgian wines is more diversified, both the volume and value of exports is significantly less than it was prior to the Russian embargo. The total value of Georgia's wine exports for the first six months of 2010 was USD 17 million, with the product being exported to 37 countries around the world. The leading importer, Ukraine imports USD 7.6 million worth of Georgian wine, then comes Kazakhstan – USD 2.7 million, followed by Belarus – USD 1.9 million. Georgian wines are also exported to Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, USA, Germany, Armenia, and so on. Last year Georgian wine exports totaled USD 34.2 million.
