Kobalia expects 3 million tourists

Young Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Vera Kobalia, is buoyant about the future of tourism in Georgia, and expects 3 million holiday makers to visit Georgia in 2011. She has promised to create jobs and develop this sector of business. She also stated that by the end of 2010, Georgia will have hosted 2 million tourists. Prime Minister Gilauri stated recently that for 8 months of this year, Georgia was visited by 1.35 million tourists which is a third more than last year, during the same period. According to the Prime Minister, the increasing influx of tourists emphasize the need for more hotels so the country’s primary task is to build as many 2-3 star hotels as possible.
