The Minister of Agriculture Kvezereli has stated that, by the end of 2010, Georgia will export up to 8 million bottles of wine. It is interesting to note that in 2009 Georgia exported only 5 million bottles of wine. It is widely known that since the imposition of the Russian embargo on Georgian alcohol, serious problems struck the Georgian wine industry. Today a yield of up to 80 000 tonnes of grapes is expected from this year's harvest. The vintage has already started and it is mainly red Saperavi 80% and white Rkatsiteli 20% that are gathered.
