Director General of South Caucasus railways (formerly Armenian railways), Shevket Shaidulin believes that the shortest way from Europe to Asia and back is via Armenia, giving it the chance to become a transit country. The existing railway track from Kars to Akhurian in Armenia is the shortest route and has more advantages than the newly built Karsi - Akhalkalaki route. Shaidulin thinks that some Turkish investors are ready to invest in reviving this route and the Armenian station of Akhurian has already prepared a logistics centre to serve the possible resumption of a service on the route.
