Armenian PM pleased with Russian investment

Ukrainian magazine ‘Profile’ published an interview with the Armenian Prime Minister, Tigran Sarkisian. He stated that 1400 Russian-funded enterprises are operating in Armenia and stressed that Russian investment in energy sector, infrastructure as well as information technology are essential for the country. One of the largest Russian investment projects in Armenia is the joint stock company ArmRusGasprom, in which Russia’s Gasprom has an 80% stake. It provides gas to 94% of the country’s population. Russian capital is also invested in the management of Armenia’s aging nuclear power station, as well as in the telecommunications market. Sarkisian emphasised the great importance of Russian investment for his country and also expressed hope that Ukraine will also invest in Armenia.
