Iran against NABUCCO

Iran has stated officially that it does not agree with the models of the distribution of the Caspian shelf initiated and promoted by Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. As reported previously, just ten days ago on November 19 Turkmenistan officially stated that it is prepared to supply NABUCCO pipeline with 40 billion cubic metres of natural gas which could be transported to Azerbaijan to supply the NABUCCO project. Other different projects are envisaged – one is laying a natural gas pipeline in the Caspian Sea bed. So far Moscow has not reacted to the existing possibilities of transporting Caspian natural gas to Europe bypassing Russia. However, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are conducting negotiations mediated by Brussels over the promotion of the NABUCCO project.
