Russia confident of becoming WTO member in 2011

Russian media sources are disseminating information that, before the end of 2011, the country will become a member of the WTO. General Director of TWP Paskal Lamy mentioned that there are some obstacles in the way of achieving this, meaning in particular Georgia’s unwillingness for Russia to enter the organization. Although Lamy did not specifically mention Georgia as one of these obstacles, to enter into the WTO, Russia will need votes of all member countries including Georgia, according to the organization's charter.
