The AGRI (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania Interconnector) the project envisages transporting liquefied natural gas from Azerbaijan to Romania via Georgia could be considered one of the most important projects in energy transportation from the Caspian basin into Europe. Investment in the project will reach more than Euro 4.5 bln. It will become possible to transport 8 bln cubic meters of liquefied gas annually. Recently in Bucharest a meeting was held between the Azeri energy minister with Romanian leadership. The major issue to discuss was the search of extra players in the project. Different technical issues were discussed and evaluated. The Romanian FM highlighted the problems of constructing terminals in Constanta as well as some other ecological problems. It is significant that the Bucharest meeting on February 14 was attended by the representatives of Hungarian company MVM. This is understood as evidence that the AGRI project is viable, successful and necessary. The project envisages transporting Azeri gas to Kulevi port of Georgia, building the terminal there which will liquefy gas, transporting this gas into a container to Constanta, and building another building there which will de liquefy gas and distribute it further into Europe.
