New financing from the millennium challenge

Georgia is completing a five year long program concluded with US funded Millennium Challenge Corporation. According to this project, Georgia received first USD 295 mln and later, after Russian aggression in august 2008, an extra USD 100 mln. Several successful projects were implemented including the motorway in South Georgia, rehabilitation of the north-south natural gas pipeline, regional infrastructure, and development of agro business. In the beginning of this year, the Millennium Challenge Corporation board of directors in Washington DC nominated Georgia as one of the beneficiaries. Georgia has to submit projects and the Millennium Challenge Corporation will make a final decision in near future.
