Some Israeli and Georgian media outlets are recently disseminating the news that on April 7 Georgia was named among the countries where Israeli citizens are under threat. Therefore Israeli citizens are recommended to refrain from traveling to Georgia. The list also includes Azerbaijan, Armenia and Tajikistan. It is feared that this type of development seriously undermines efforts of Georgian tourist organizations who had been promoting Georgia in Israel as an attractive destination to spend their holidays. It will be a serious blow to the Georgian tourism industry as many tourist locations in the country see the Israelis as one of the key groups of visitors. It is suggested that Georgia’s inclusion in the dangerous country list is connected with the case of the imprisonment of two Israeli businessmen in Georgia.
