Problems in light industry

Georgia’s light industry is dying. In practice, the once famous production of cloth of different quality and type has died. We should remember that before 1992 during the soviet period around 40% of Georgia’s budgetary revenues were filled by light industry branches. Today Georgia only exports raw materials such as wool and receives mass-produced imports of low quality at cheap prices. There are no new technologies being introduced in the light industry due to a lack of interest.
