According to a statement made by the chief geologist of the Georgian – Kazakh joint venture Aksai – BMS Roland Zakradze it is not impossible that in Khobi region, near the villages of Chaladidi and Shua Khorga, oil reserves could be found. The company is conducting drillings and the results will be known by the end of this month. There may be an opportunity for finding oil in the Black Sea as well. According to some preliminary data there could be a source of oil from the Black Sea bed near Poti port.
It is hard to say how things will develop in this direction but in all cases serious attention should be paid to environmental protection and preservation of the Black Sea.
