For some time now the Georgian government officials have boasted that inflation in Georgia was still in single figures. The Georgian government also promised its population that by the end of 2011 the rate of inflation would be fixed at 6%. However it should be noted that recently inflation in Georgia moved into double figures and inflation in May was far higher than last year, sitting at 14.3%.
IMF thinks that inflation could decrease starting from June and an decrease of prices on fuel and food products could eventually bring inflation down eventually by 8.5% by the end of this year.
