Russia as a Caspian country is against putting the gas pipelines on the Caspian Sea bed as it may damage the environment. Russia and Iran think that all ecological issues concerning laying the pipelines in the Caspian Sea bed should be endorsed with all five Caspian countries. This was announced in Baku by the Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin. It is worth noting that Russia has expressed such concern for the ecological system only in regards of the Caspian Sea, whereas Moscow itself carries out and supports the projects of laying pipelines in the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea without any concern or consultation with neighbouring countries.
