Why Vanuatu ‘recognised’ only Abkhazia’s independence?

In his interview to Rezonansi political analyst Soso Tsintsadze talks about Vanuatu’s recognition of Abkhazia and highlights the fact that it only’ recognised Abkhazia's independence and not South Ossetia. “Unfortunately no one has expressed interest over the fact that Vanuatu only recognised Abkhazia’s independence and not South Ossetia’s. If Putin was buying both entities' independence before, now he is only focused on Abkhazia. It is hard to believe that Moscow did not have enough money for Tskhinvali to buy its ‘recognition’ as well,” Tsintsadze says.

According to him ignoring Tskhinvali is a serious political message from Moscow which may be addressed either to the west or to Georgia. It needs to be analyzed thoroughly. “It is a pity that this gesture went almost unnoticed in Georgia, which is overcrowded by politicians and political analysts,” Tsintsadze said.

Textbook price to decrease

Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkin said that according to a new rule it is necessary to advertise the book price on the last page so that the seller does not increase its price artificially. The textbook price will be GEL 5, 7, 9 but it will not cost more than GEL 10, 24 Hours writes.

Shashkin said that the ministry will buy books for socially unprotected pupils. The school books market will be open on September 1 and it will last for two weeks. This will be held in Tbilisi and other big cities of Georgia. “it is important for parents to know that school textbooks will be sold at affordable prices,” the minister said.

At the same time, the textbook's shape has been improved including weight, font and size. This plan will not be changed for five years, so these books will be used by younger children as well.
