Opposition entities are highlighting the dire situation in the Georgian agriculture sector. The political movement 'Whites' carried out special research concluding that Foreign Direct Investment entering the country is not reaching the agrarian sector which urgently needs financial support. The research showed that for the last 7 years cultivation of lands has decreased by 65%. Georgia has lost its food product independence as the production of wheat, vegetables and fruits have dramatically decreased. As a result of these developments prices have gone up on those products which make living conditions for growing numbers of the Georgian population even more difficult.
