Georgia’s currency reserves increase

Foreign currency reserves in Georgia’s National Bank according to data of June 20, 2011 reached USD 2.759 bln. This is an increase of USD 495 mln since the beginning of this year. NBG fills up its currency reserves with the support it receives from IMF and financial assistance it is receiving after the August 2008 Russian aggression. 70% of currency reserves are in USD and 30% are in Euros. These reserves are located in low risk securities and high rating foreign bank deposits.
