Authorities should be changed through elections
In his interview to Akhali Taoba, Conservative party leader Zviad Dzidziguri said that changing Saakashvili’s regime should be achieved only though elections. According to him the authorities will be replaced in 2012 after parliamentary elections and not in 2013 when in Georgia it is planned to carry out presidential elections. “This will be the most important elections Georgia has ever had after the October 28, 1990 elections,” Dzidziguri said.
Dzidziguri says that the entire Georgian society should prepare for these elections, because in elections the winner is whom a million people vote for and not the one who has a million Lari. If Saakashvili will have two thirds of support in parliament then the president may become RUsudan Kervalishvili or any minimal political figure, although the Prime Minister will be Saakashvili who will have most power according to the new constitution. “And accordingly in this case no real changes are expected. The court will not be independent as it is now, media will be under pressure and etc,” he says.
“So whoever thinks that they are in deadlock they should give up complaining and make the right decision on the day of the elections. 2012 parliamentary elections will be a test for the Georgian nation,” Dzidziguri added.
