Representatives of the political party 'Free Georgia' state that there are serious problems with Georgian railways. They claim that the reasons for problems in the railways have been by a lack of reconstruction works. In their statement, party representatives say that some time ago railway officials reduced the maximum speed of trains running though Georgia from 100 kilometers to 60 kilometers per hour. Free Georgia representatives claim that they have studied this issue and discovered serious violations. The locomotives lack appropriate servicing, while the condition of the tracks and rails are very poor. Electric trains are in need of repair and appropriate maintenance. The party asks the official bodies to start studying the situation and to address the shortcomings of Georgian railways quickly.
